Curtis is a native of Yarrawonga, Victoria, Australia she is the daughter of Carmencita Ojales a Filipina from Bolinao Pangasinan and James Ernest Curtis Smith, an Australian lawyer. Her father got married Ojales on the 29th of October, 1982. The older sibling Jasmine is also an actress. Clare was a cousin of their father's side. She died at just four months old in 2007.
